KATY SAYS: Of course I had heard of Blade Runner before I watched it with Eric. It’s one of the most famous science fiction movies ever made. What I wasn’t expecting was how quiet it was. Any movie made today with this plot would be full of bombastic soundtrack and almost never ending action. Blade Runner let’s you sit in the moments, the quiet conversations between characters. When the action does hit the violence jars you all the more. It’s a classic for a reason, do yourself a favor and watch it if you haven’t already.

ERIC SAYS: One of the greatest films ever made, Blade Runner has been an obsession of mine since I first saw it as a (far too) young child. I’ve tried to track down as many versions of it as I can.

I’ve seen the Workprint, the U.S. theatrical cut, the International cut, the so-called Director’s Cut, and the Final Cut. There are a couple more variations out there, but I’ll find them.

Hot Take 1: “Is Deckard a Replicant?” The question has no answer. It doesn’t matter. The movie is about what makes us human. Not about hard and fast answers.
Hot Take 2: Blade Runner 2049 is even better.
