There was a weird period in the 1980s when Disney tried their hand at horror. The two that I remember were Something Wicked This Way Comes (admittedly, one of my favorite movies – Jonathan Pryce is absolutely terrifying), and The Watcher in the Woods. Steph and I probably saw this one a half-dozen times. At our young age, The Watcher in the Woods was enough to give us the willies – Hence, its inclusion on the list (and why I assigned it to my big sister). I miss when Disney would take big swings like this, even if the original ending was replaced by… whatever the heck happened at the end of this one.
