Sure, it can be interpreted as a weirdly right wing movie where private enterprise saves the world from the public sector (specifically the eeeeevil Environmental Protection Agency), but we were hip deep in Reaganomics at the time, and– look, I loved it when I was 8, okay? There was a cool giant Marshmallow guy and I still have my Slimer toy.
